Spring and autumn are the ideal seasons because the soil is warm and there is natural rain to help the roots establish. Turf can be laid in summer but requires heavy daily watering. We do not lay turf in winter when the ground is frozen.

New turf should be watered thoroughly every evening for the first two weeks unless there has been prolonged rainfall. The water needs to reach through the turf layer into the soil below. If the turf dries out during this period, the rolls can shrink and fail to establish.
